How to use the TDEE calculator

Enter your sex, age, height and weight, then choose the activity level that best matches a typical week. The big number is your total daily energy expenditure — the calories you burn per day. Eat around it to maintain weight, below it to lose, and above it to gain.

How TDEE is calculated

TDEE = BMR × activity factor
BMR from Mifflin-St Jeor · factor 1.2 to 1.9

Example. A 30-year-old man, 175 cm and 70 kg has a BMR of about 1,649. At a moderate activity level (×1.55) his TDEE is roughly 2,556 calories a day — about 907 of those come from daily activity.
